COMPETITIVE PROGRAM

TERMS & CONDITIONS 2010-2011

All new Students interested in the competitive program must audition with Carla.

Team Membership Fees

  1. All monthly payments must be delivered and dated for the 1st of each month. Post-dated cheques must be delivered at the time of registration.
  2. All choreographed numbers including solos, duets, trios, must be paid in full before the scheduled first lesson.
  3. All choreography fees must be paid in full by December 15th 2009.  Competition entry fees will be posted according to each competition, please respect the due date provided.
  4. Syllabus is not mandatory, but recommended.  A monthly fee of $40.00 applies for a 1-hour class.  Syllabus begins at the Standard Level 1.  Although Syllabus is optional, it is highly recommended.  This gives the students strong structure, intense detail, and extreme focus that are beneficial to their ballet training and all disciplines.

Class Levelling

  1. Class levelling system put in place at Premiere Dance has been designed to accommodate the ability and ages of our dancers, and to be clear to all parents.
  2. Please do not be concerned with the “name” of your child's level or the names of the other dancer’s in your child’s class. It is just a name.
  3. Careful evaluation of past performance, ability, and attendance as well as age and size have gone into all decisions of the class placement.
  4. Although it is very hard to accommodate each student’s needs, sometimes the schedule may conflict with your families outside activities. Please be aware that the students will not be allowed to change to a higher-class level, due to an outside time conflict.  Should a conflict exist, students will need to adjust their personal schedule.
  5. Parents or students who question their placement should make an appointment with Carla for an evaluation and an opportunity to discuss concerns.

Recital Information
The 2010 Recital dates to be announced and posting here.  ALL DANCERS THAT COMMIT TO THE COMPETITIVE PROGRAM MUST DANCE IN ALL NIGHTS OF THE RECITAL.  ATTENDANCE IS A MUST!  NO EXCEPTIONS!

Competition Rules

  1. All competition dates are mandatory with respect to attendance.   No student will be exempt from any competition.  This is a commitment that all families will enter into and honour throughout the year.
  2. All students must participate in their large groups before accepting solos, duets and trios.
  3. Please arrive 2 hours prior to any competition time schedule.  This ensures that your child will be properly warmed up and ready to compete.
  4. All students must be present for ALL their Awards Sessions.  If your child does not attend their Awards and an overall is being granted to your child, Premiere Dance will not honour their scholarship.
  5. Competition Entry Fees must be paid in full by the due date provided.
  6. Competitions will take place in the months of March, April, and May 2010.  Please be aware that your child may be absent from their academic institutions.

 


Recreational Dance Classes

Ballet Dance Attire

In every ballet class the students will be required to wear a specific body suit, tights, and shoes.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  If your child is not in their specific uniform, they WILL NOT be permitted to participate in their classes for that evening.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Competitive students must attend all scheduled classes throughout the year. Exceptions are sickness such as fever, chickenpox, strep throat, vomiting, etc.
  • It is the responsibility of the parents and students to check the competitive bulletin board for changes in schedules.  This includes updated news, and competition dates.
  • BALLET ATTENDANCE.  If your child does not attend his/her ballet class, they will not be able to participate in any other classes for that day.  We are implementing this rule by scheduling most ballet classes at the beginning of each day.
  • All students must demonstrate a healthy attitude toward their fellow teammates. They must respect all teachers and their decisions current and throughout the year.  All students with guidance from their parents must work constructively together, to help create a healthy and non-competitive atmosphere within the studio.
  • Students must respect the property of others.  Stealing will not be tolerated.
  • In order to avoid being MISINFORMED, please direct any problems or questions directly to Carla. Kindly set up an appointment with the office if you have any issues.

Costumes

  • Costumes will range anywhere from $150 - $400.
  • All costume deposits must be paid at the time of registration.
  • $100.00 deposit per routine is required. (i.e. 8 dances = $800)
  • Costumes include costumes only and hair accessories.  If props are required these fees will be added to your costume total.
  • Not included in the costume fee will be tights, shoes, earrings, necklaces etc.
  • For Ballet numbers, tutus and tutu bags may be required and will be a separate fee. (Tutu’s range from $150-$250, and bags range from $30-40.)

Weather Conditions

Please call the studio between 2 o’clock and 3 o’clock to see if the studio is closed due to inclement weather.  A voice message will be left on the studio’s voice mail informing all members of closure.

Other Information

  • Please be advised that, Premiere Dance, cannot be held responsible for any personal injury that may occur at the studio.  The student and his/her family hereby waive and releases any and all claims that he/she has against the studio, its employees or agents for injury sustained.
  • Premiere Dance should not be treated as a babysitting service; parents should pick-up their children immediately following their child’s last class of the day.

Any competitive member found to be in violation of the above terms and conditions will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including discharge of your child’s competitive company.
